May 8 commemoration is a yearly programme of the Alumni Association to remember the victims of May 8 year 2000 occurrence. The gory occurrence happened between our students and some members of the community. It  led to the death of our students and subsequent closure of the Polytechnic. As an Alumni Association, it our believe that the sacrifice of our dear heroes should not go unnoticed and this has given birth to the annual commemoration to immortalize our fallen heroes. The memories of the event have been turned into a symposium and a reflection on the peaceful and harmonious relationship between the polytechnic and the host community.

The symposium has further enhanced the mutual and cordial relationship and relative peace between the Polytechnic staff, students, and the host community. The Alumni Association values peace as a driving force to institutional growth and development and shall continue to reinforce and uphold the tenets of peace, love, unity, and togetherness among stakeholders and the publics of the institution.
